Sep 07, 2015 (newstodate): Little progress is seen in Finnair Cargo's volumes in August, the latest month accounted for.
A total of 11,399 tonnes were transported which is 10.3 down, y-o-y, despite an increase in the Asian traffic by 4.6 percent to 7,517 tonnes.
The largest increase was seen in the N Atlantic traffic that was up 25.2 percent to 720 tonnes, while European traffic dropped by 14.6 percent to 1,615 tonnes.
Cargo on purchased traffic by JAL was 1,414 tonnes which was down 51.5 percent, y-o-y, as Finnair Cargo ceased own freighter flights on NGA aircraft from the turn of the year.
In the period January-August 2015 Finnair Cargo has transported a total of 84,454 tonnes of cargo, which is 15.4 percent down on 2014, due to a slow development by only 0.2 percent in the Asian traffic as well as a general decline in all other market segments except the N Atlantic where volumes were up 2.1 percent.
From September, Finnair and IAG Cargo will team up behind a joint freighter service between London Luton Airport and Helsinki Airport.
The two parties will jointly use the 43 tonnes cargo capacity on a DHL Airbus A300-600 freighter offering enhanced transfer options between Finnair's Asian cargo and IAG Cargo's primarily North American cargo.
