Sep 09, 2015 (newstodate): The news yesterday of acquisition talks between Aviator and SGH in Scandinavia is bound to shake the aviation industry in the three countries involved.
In the fierce competition over airline handling contracts till this day between Aviator and SGH, carriers that changed partners will find themselves once again bound to a handling company they decided to leave for a better bargain over price, quality or other factors.
After Aviator's acquisition of SGH, the company would hold about 85 percent of the market at Copenhagen Airport.
Among keen observers to the Scandinavian handling business is Menzies that set up a handling company in Copenhagen Airport only from April 1, 2015, serving Norwegian and Delta Air Lines, besides being active for years at both Oslo and Stockholm.
-At this moment we sit back to see how the whole thing evolves, but of course the coming changes will create new opportunities for us to expand at the airports involved, says Miguel Gomez Sjunnesson, Menzies country manager Sweden also supervising the set-up in Denmark.
-Menzies will be actively involved from a commercial perspective to try to use this opportunity to expand our business. If we land new contracts with airlines we will obviously be fully capable of providing the necessary set-up to provide the services requested, says Mr Gomez.
