September 09, 2015 (newstodate): One more western carrier is to close down services to Russia: Norwegian.
The carrier has decided to close down its route to St Petersburg with the last flights on October 23, 2015, citing low demand, the falling value of the Ruble and the effects from the sanctions on Ukraine that keep western travelers from visiting Russia as the main reasons.
Norwegian opened the route on May 3, 2006.
Other Scandinavian connections to St Petersburg have also been reduced, including SAS that has dropped daily flights to operate now only three weekly rotations from Stockholm, as well as cutting from six to three weekly flights from Copenhagen.
