Sep 09, 2015 (newstodate): Cargo volumes through Iceland's Keflavik Airport were practically unchanged in the first eight months of this year, compared to 2014.
A total of 28,039 tonnes of cargo was handled, up only 1.1 percent, y-o-y.
Totals included 9,181 tonnes of imports, rising 3.1 percent, and 18,858 tonnes of exports, up 0.1 percent.
Volumes were actually down by 0.2 percent, y-o-y, in 2014, while up 5.5 percent in 2013.
On the passenger side, statistics paint a much brighter picture, with a growth by 23.7 percent in 2014, to 3,333,317 passengers during January-August 2015, raising the estimated total volume in 2015 to 4,843,181 passengers.
20 airlines have been flying into Iceland during this summer's schedule, and nine of these will be providing year-round services which is a record high number.
