Sep 29, 2015 (newstodate): The Dutch-owned cargo GSA company Kales Airline Services played the midwife-role for launching Norwegian Cargo.
But after a brief period, Kales was again at arm's length to secure its independence from any airline affiliation.
-Norwegian needed start-up help to establish a platform for selling its cargo capacity through its subsidiary Norwegian Cargo, and we offered our experience to boost the process, says Peter Kales, Kales Airline Services CEO, from Amsterdam.
-As part of the process, we temporarily took 35 percent of the shares in Norwegian Cargo, but the stake was sold by December 2014, only half a year after the start, and Norwegian Cargo is now fully-owned by Norwegian Air Shuttle.
-Air Cargo Broker then set up the GSSA company Aviation Plus that is dedicated to serving Norwegian Cargo on a normal contract running for two or three years. And if Norwegian Cargo should so decide, a tender may be opened at the end of this period to allow other competitors to bid on the business.
