Sep 10, 2015 (newstodate): Efforts to relaunch Greenland Express have taken a new turn, aiming at start of operations in 2016.
Driving the process is Gert Brask who is currently in talks with Russian partners to secure the lease of Superjet 100 aircraft for the carrier's future fleet.
-Greenland Express Holding is now going for an own AOC to take delivery of two Superjet 100 aircraft in 2016, and another batch of three aircraft in 2017-18, says Gert Brask.
-The aircraft financial lease arrangement will be backed by Russian financing, and the first two aircraft will be the current basic version while the three aircraft in 2017-18 will be the coming new long-range version equipped with new stronger and even more fuel-efficient engines under development.
-Due to the currently inflated Russian Ruble and the strong US dollar, the price is rather high but we are being offered very attractive conditions.
-With the planned fleet, we will aim at not just the Greenland-Denmark traffic but a larger network with more routes and new destinations, says Mr Brask.
