Sep 17, 2015 (newstodate): While Finnair is haunted by labor unrest grounding a number of flights and departures, good news have taken to the air in Toulouse.
Yesterday thus saw the first flight of Finnair's first new Airbus A350 XWB that is now in the final testing program ahead of delivery in Helsinki.
Finnair will successively take delivery of a total of four Airbus A350 aircraft in 2015, another seven will follow in 2016 and 2017, with the remaining eight to be delivered between 2018 and 2023.
The first two commercial flights with the new aircraft will be performed on Finnish domestic routes on October 5, 2015.
Then follows a number of "first calls" by the new aircraft, with London Heathrow on October 5 as the first international flight.
In a Scandinavian context, Finnair's Airbus A350 XWB will call at Stockholm on October 7, at Copenhagen on October 8, at Oslo on October 9, and at Gothenburg on October 13, 2015.
After this series of crew familiarization flights, long-haul services will start from October 25, 2015, on the route from Helsinki to Shanghai, followed by daily flights on routes from Helsinki to Beijing from November 21, to Bangkok from December 1, to Hong Kong from February 1, 2016, and to Singapore from March 28, 2016.
Finnair has 19 A350 aircraft on order.
