Sep 22, 2015 (newstodate): Finnair will be the first airline to bring the Airbus A350 aircraft into the Big Apple!
The carrier plans to introduce the aircraft on flights between Helsinki and New York before the end of this year, but the commercial flight program has otherwise been revised due to late delivery of the aircraft and needs for a series of familiarization flights prior to the launch of scheduled long-haul flights.
Amsterdam and Oslo will thus be the first European destinations to receive an Airbus A350 call on October 9, 2015, only two days after the official hand-over ceremony at Helsinki Airport.
After that, the aircraft will be introduced on flights to 12 other European airports including Copenhagen on October 18 and ending with Paris on October 31, 2015.
After the conclusion of this series of flights, Finnair will open up for long-haul operations with Airbus A350 starting with the route between Helsinki and Shanghai from November 21, 2015.
Finnair expects to receive the first four Airbus A350 aircraft by the end of this year, another seven will be delivered in 2016 and 2017, and the remaining eight are slated for delivery between 2018 and 2023.
