Sep 21, 2015 (newstodate): Finnair has now published the date for the official delivery of the first of 19 Airbus A350 XWB aircraft.
Finnair will receive its first Airbus A350 WXB aircraft from Airbus in a delivery ceremony on October 7, 2015, and the aircraft will then enter into long-haul service on November 21, 2015, on the route between Helsinki and Shanghai.
This entails an almost one month delay, as plans were earlier to start commercial services from October 25, 2015, on the route from Helsinki to Shanghai, followed by daily flights on routes from Helsinki to Beijing from November 21, to Bangkok from December 1, to Hong Kong from February 1, 2016, and to Singapore from March 28, 2016.
According to Finnair, the carrier adjusted its Airbus A350 long-haul launch schedule due to changes in the expected delivery schedules of the company's first A350 aircraft, the needs of the crew familiarisation program, and other operational factors.
Finnair expects to receive the first four by the end of this year. Another seven will be delivered in 2016 and 2017, with the remaining eight to be delivered between 2018 and 2023.
