Sep 11, 2015 (newstodate): Greenland's parliament is hard pressed to formulate the shape of the country's traffic infrastructure for the coming years.
As the country has just elected a new government, little time remains for securing new contracts with providers of sea and air transportation in the country as the existing contracts are due to expire shortly.
It has therefore been decided to prolong the contracts with the current providers by up to another year to allow for negotiations with bidders.
Interestingly, among the new companies that have aired interest in taking part in the process is also a carrier under formation, Aluu Airlines initiated by Pele Broberg, a former Air Greenland pilot, and Kuno Fencker, Royal Arctic Lines Chairman of the Board.
With its first flight originally slated for June 1, 2015, Aluu Airlines however postponed its launch indefinitely as more adjustments to the company structure were required for the issuance of the carrier's AOC.
Aluu Airlines handed in its AOC application in December 2014 and plans for introduction of Airbus A321 services between Greenland and Denmark as well as turbo-prop feeder services between Kangerlussuaq and destinations in Greenland.
For months, nothing has been heard from Aluu Airlines - before it now appears to be ready to bid in the contest for contracts with the Greenland state.
