Sep 11, 2015 (newstodate): While acquisition talks are going on between Aviator and SGH, with Aviator to take over SGH's handling business at the major Scandinavian airports Oslo Gardemoen, Copenhagen, Arlanda, Malmo and Gothenburg, the situation in Norway is slightly different from other Scandinavian markets.
Already in June 2015, the handling activities of SGH were spun off under a LoI with Wideroe Ground Handling AS to the effect that Wideroe will take over all ground handling activities from SGH at 14 Norwegian line station, excluding Oslo Gardermoen Airport that serves as the hub for both SAS and Norwegian.
With this move, Wideroe Ground Handling will become the largest provider of handling services at Norway's regional and local airports, and all today's about 1,500 SGH staff in Norway, equipment and contracts will be transferred to Wideroe after the completion of the transaction and negotiations with the unions and parties involved.
Today's Wideroe Ground Handling employs 220 staff at 29 airports in Norway.
In Norway, Aviator is today active only at Oslo Gardermoen Airport, Bergen Airport Flesland, Aalesund Vigra Airport, and Bardufoss Airport.
