Sep 28, 2015 (newstodate): The Lithuanian MRO provider FL Technics has announced the expansion of its business to the African market.
The company has signed a new base maintenance agreement with Afriqiyah Airways, one of the largest carriers in Libya.
According to the contract, FL Technics shall carry out the necessary maintenance checks for the carriers Airbus aircraft, and the first Airbus A320 aircraft is already stationed at the FL Technics hangar in Kaunas, Lithuania.
Under the terms and conditions of the agreement, the aircraft will undergo an A- as well as C-Checks comprised of functional and operational system inspection, the necessary repair, overhaul and exchange of internal components, the inspection and repair of aircraft structure and composite elements, NDT, seat repairs, defect rectification, etc.
Based at Tripoli Airport, Afriqiyah operates an all-Airbus fleet of 13 aircraft including two Airbus A320 placed with the Lithuanian carrier Small Planet Airlines on a special contract from summer 2014.
-Due to the unstable situation in the country, the Libyan carrier decided to place these aircraft on a safe contract with us and added to our AOC. The Libyan aircraft are used on European flights during the summer period, and the contract covers a two-year period, Small Planet Airlines' CEO Vytautas Kaikaris told newstodate in March 2015.
