Aug 28, 2015 (newstodate): An IL-76TD-90VD from Volga-Dnepr paid a visit to Sweden's Orebro Airport in July to load a special shipment of laser equipment destined for Japan.
The outsize and temperature-sensitive 21 tonnes shipment did not fit into normal freighters but could be handled by the IL-76 to which was added a special ramp extension, developed for use by Volga-Dneprs An-124-100 freighter to load aerospace equipment and delivered to Sweden from Leipzig, Germany.
Managing the operation was the Swedish office of the Danish logistics provider, Scan Global Logistics' Charter&Relief Department.
