Aug 04, 2015 (newstodate): Norway's Stavanger Airport did see total volumes down in June despite a sustained rise in international cargo.
A total of 646 tonnes of cargo and mail was handled, a decline by 5.6 percent, y-o-y, due to a fall in domestic cargo by 15.8 percent to 100 tonnes and a steep decline in domestic mail by 35.6 percent to 219 tonnes.
On the positive side, international air cargo volumes were again up by 46 percent to 324 tonnes.
Since November 8, 2014, Lufthansa Cargo has been operating freighter traffic at Stavanger, with a weekly Boeing 777F freighter flying in from Houston with imports, and continuing to Frankfurt after lifting Norwegian exports destined for destinations on the carrier's global network.
Starting from November 3, 2014, Qatar Airways also operated an Airbus A330-200F freighter flying from Brussels on its return trip to Doha, but the service was suspended from the start of this summer's schedule and relocated instead to Oslo Airport.
