Aug 11, 2015 (newstodate): Russia is determined to close all "mouse holes" allowing for illegal imports of perishables from embargoed markets, EU and non-EU alike.
One such illegal inroad for imports of foreign perishables has been Belarus, also used to bypass the Russian embargo on Norwegian salmon and other seafood products.
Relevant Russian agencies will now join forces to detect any illegal imports via Belarus that will from now be immediately destructed, with importers and other companies involved fined.
The new harsh action will not focus on border crossings only. Also illegal imports detected at stores and shops and other selling points in Russia will be confiscated and destructed.
Seafood exporting countries like Iceland and the Faroe Islands will presumably be allowed to continue exports to Russia as they are not affected by the Russian embargo.
