Aug 14, 2015 (newstodate): Ryanair's decision to stop flights at Finland's Lappeenranta airport also puts an end to plans for developing the airport.
Under the current plan ownership of the airport would pass from state to Lappeenranta municipality, and the airport infrastructure was to be developed.
All this has now been shelved as Ryanair announced the closing of flights at Lappeenranta, with the last flight to Bergamo on October 21, 2015.
Ryanair also operates flights on routes between Lappenranta and Barcelona and Dusseldorf but these will also be suspended during the coming winter schedule.
