Aug 07, 2015 (newstodate): Finnair is taking one step back in its strategy for flights to Russia.
The carrier has decided to close down flights on the route between Helsinki and Nizhniy Novgorod from September 1, 2015, due to low demand in the market.
The route was opened only on July 25, 2014, when Finnair was still seeing growth potentials in the market, and the flight to Nizhniy Novgorod was followed by the opening of flights on the route from Helsinki to Samaras Kurumoch International Airport from August 7, and to Kazan International Airport from August 18, 2014 - all served with three weekly rotations using Embraer E90 aircraft operated on behalf of Finnair by Flybe Finland.
Finnair will also suspended services to Samara and Kazan during the coming winter schedule until March 2016.
After this, Finnair will retain flights to only three destinations in Russia - Moscow, St Petersburg and Yekaterinburg.
