Aug 13, 2015 (newstodate): July saw cargo volumes up at the three leading cargo airports managed by Swedavia.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport was up 2.5 percent, y-o-y, in flown cargo volumes to 5,492 tonnes, but compared to July 2013 the increase was 43.2 percent.
At Malmoe Airport volumes were up 9.8 percent, y-o-y, to 2,331 tonnes, but compared to July 2013 the increase was 22.3 percent.
Finally, Gothenburg Airport increase volumes by 36 percent, y-o-y, but to a mere 848 tonnes, which is a far cry from July 2013 when the airport handled 2,321 tonnes of cargo. July 2015 was thus down 63 percent compared to that year.
Stockholm Arlanda benefits from among others the traffic by Emirates from September 4, 2013, Malmoe Airport thrives on the freighter traffic by the Russian cargo airlines ABC Airlines and Atran since April 2014, while Gothenburg suffers from the loss of freighter traffic including the Emirates freighter operations that was moved to Copenhagen Airport starting from July 1, 2014, and prior to that Asiana also left Gothenburg Landvetter from September 7, 2012.
