Aug 18, 2015 (newstodate): The third Boeing 747-8F has now been registered in Azerbaijan.
On August 17, the aircraft was delivered to Silk Way West Airlines that is to take in a further two similar aircraft during H1, 2016.
Silk Way West is part of the Azerbaijani Silk Way Group that also holds Silk Way Airlines that has already two of these aircraft in its fleet.
In 2015, Silk Way West Airlines obtained approval by DOT to operate cargo flights between Baku and New York, and the carrier also plans to launch scheduled freighter flights to Japan and Vietnam.
Silk Way West has been in talks with Riga Airport, Latvia, about setting up Riga as a logistics hub after construction of new cargo and warehousing facilities and other infrastructure.
No details on this project has yet been disclosed, however, but Riga Airport has confirmed to newstodate that talks are going on between the parties.
