Aug 31, 20154 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic will probably not resume operations in 2016 of its current summer route to Aalborg, the carrier's third destination in Denmark.
The route was opened from April 18, 2015, driven by a contract with the Danish tour operator SunCharter to fly tourists from Aalborg Airport, in Northern Denmark, to Crete and Rhodes, enabling the carrier to offer the weekly commercial flights between Riga and Aalborg rather than ferrying the aircraft empty to and from Aalborg.
The tour operator has now signed a contract for the next summer season with SAS, and airBaltic will therefore lose the key driver behind the route.
After this summer season, airBaltic will still be serving its routes from Riga to Copenhagen and Billund.
