Jul 29, 2015 (newstodate): Austrian Airlines has sourced a second Embraer 170 aircraft from Estonian Air on a short-term wet-lease contract.
Austrian Airlines needs extra capacity to cover higher capacity requirements during its tight summer flight schedule, and the wet-lease contract will run till the end of the summer schedule by October 2015.
The first Embraer 170 aircraft entered service with Austrian Airlines from June 2015, with a second Estonian Air Embraer 170 added from July.
Estonian Air is currently preparing for handing back its four E-170 aircraft sub-leased from Finnair that has leased the aircraft from SMBC in Dublin.
Estonian Air is now to go through a redelivery process starting from August 2015 with one aircraft per month, enabling the carrier to finally relieve itself of having had two aircraft in excess for more than two years.
