Jul 03, 2015 (newstodate): The current downturn in trade with Russia has taken a toll on many carriers, Finnair not excluded.
-We have definitely seen our volumes destined for the Russian market down, says Antti Kuusenmaki, Finnair Head of Cargo.
-What counted most for us earlier was cargo from the US to Russia, flown into Helsinki and trucked from here into Russia. These volumes have been strongly hit.
-On the positive side, we are seeing the impact from the growth in e-commerce, where China's Alibaba is taking a lead, probably being now the second-largest shipper of goods to Russia, measured in shipments. Much of this is flown by Finnair and transited at Helsinki Airport, says Mr Kuusenmaki.
