Jun 09, 2015 (newstodate): Contrary to earlier reports, also carried by newstodate, there are no intentions by the Lithuanian state to support the ailing company managing the commercial activities at the country's Siauliai Airport that was declared bankrupt early in June.
-Siauliai Airport is a NATO base belonging to Lithuania's Ministry of Defense, and the commercial company's activity at the airport is no more, no less than that of a ground handling company, says Arijandas Sliupas, vice-minister, Ministry of Transport and Communication.
-If the municipality-owned company wants to do commercial business at Siauliai Airport it is just fine, but it must then be on a viable, self-sustaining basis as with any other commercial company. If unsuccessful it must go bust.
-Should the state ever consider stepping in to support this ground handling company we would be obliged to do same in the case of BGS or Litcargus which is of course out of the question, says Mr Sliupas.
