Jun 04, 2015 (newstodate): Serbia's Belgrade Airport is seeing brisk growth in cargo and mail volumes in 2015.
During January-May 2015, the airport saw its cargo volumes up to 4,577 tonnes, an increase by 20 percent, y-o-y, while mail volumes were up by no less than 51 percent to a total of 716 tonnes.
In May 2015 alone, cargo volumes rose 26 percent, y-o-y, to 1,167 tonnes, while mail volumes increased by 58 percent to 144 tonnes.
The cooperation between JAT and Etihad Airways has boosted the Serb airfreight market as well as the transit cargo business.
More airlines are also coming in, including Turkish Airlines Cargo that launched a new freighter route in 2014, flying Istanbul-Madrid-Belgrade-Istanbul with an Airbus A330-200F freighter aircraft.
