Jun 19, 2015 (newstodate): Improved market conditions, competitive fuel prices and a cautious return to profits have made SAS change its plan for long-haul operations.
The carrier has thus decided to keep the eight Airbus A340-300 aircraft that were earlier to be phased out while taking in four A330-300 Enhanced aircraft entering the fleet from August 2015, with the first aircraft to be deployed to the route between Copenhagen and Hong Kong to open by medio September 1, 2015.
In summer 2016, the carrier's long-haul fleet will thus comprise eight A340-300, four A330-300 Enhanced and four A330-300 Classic aircraft.
Expectations are, that SAS will soon announce the opening of new intercontinental routes.
