Jun 29, 2015 (newstodate): Since July 1, 2014, all three international airports of Lithuania have been consolidated within one single juridical entity, State Enterprise Lithuanian Airports under the joint management of Gediminas Almantas as CEO.
Discussions are now entering the second stage where the Lithuanian state may consider opening a tender for the joint management and commercial development of the three airports at Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga, while the state will retain the control over and responsibility for the basic airports infrastructure as state property.
The country's prime minister has now asked the Ministry of Transport and Communication to prepare a project for a future tendering of the airports' commercial future with private investors that may bring in new traffic, business opportunities and revenues to the Lithuanian state.
