Jun 22, 1015 (newstodate): The company behind Istanbul's coming new mega-airport, IGA Havalimanı Isletmesi A.Ş. has awarded an Airport Operations Consultancy Services agreement to Incheon International Airport Corporation of Republic of Korea in cooperation with Copenhagen Airports International of Denmark.
Under the agreement, Incheon International Airport Corporation and Copenhagen Airports will provide consultancy for the Istanbul New Airport Project.
The consulting project will span the next five years, comprising strategy and business plan development, human resource and organizational development, operational readiness through trial operations, and consultancy on the operation of the new airport in the first three years after its opening in 2017.
Fully developed, the coming new airport, only 25 minutes from Istanbul city center, will offer flights to 350 destinations, have six runways and have a capacity of handling up to 150 mio passengers annually.
Cargo will play an important role, and as one example DHL Express Cargo has already signed an agreement with Istanbul New Airport that will become a new Regional Hub with construction of a 20,000 sq m express cargo operation area.
