Jun 30, 2015 (newstodate): Members of Tbilisi City Council agree that the capital airport should have a new name to better expose the identity of the Republic of Georgia.
But here the agreement ends.
One part of the members support that Tbilisi International Airport should be renamed Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport, after the country's famous national poet.
Another fraction holds that the airport should carry the name of the Republic's first president, Zviad Gamsakhurdia who was later deposed on corruption charges and abuse of power.
The council will meet today to reach a decision..
