Jun 30, 2015 (newstodate): A new ACMI provider will emerge in Sweden from 2016: Skies Aviation.
Behind the new ACMI business is the UAE-based Skies Group that today comprises Skies Aviation in Dubai, Skies Airline Training Center in Stockholm, Skies Airlines, Skies Aviation Capital in Dubai, Skies BluCrew in Stockholm, and Skies Bring Jet in the UK.
-Intentions are to set up the new company with a Swedish AOC in 2016 to offer ACMI services to operators in the European market, says Bertil Lagerquist, Skies Group Accountable Manager.
-In our fleet are currently two Boeing 737-400 aircraft, with a third to be delivered later this year, and these aircraft will then be shifted between our company in the Middle East and the new company in Sweden to serve customers on a seasonal basis.
-Like other providers we are seeing a strongly seasonal variation in demand, with Europe calling for capacity during summer periods only and other markets like the Middle East or Asia active during our slack winter periods. Our new business model will suit these market demands, says Mr Lagerquist.
