Jun 11, 2015 (newstodate): Launching ground handling services at Copenhagen Airport by April 1, 2015, Menzies has come off to a good start with Norwegian as is first customer.
-We had been looking into prospects for a return to Copenhagen Airport for quite some time, obviously needing a launch carrier with a significant volume - and Norwegian proved to be an excellent opportunity with enough volume to build a sustainable basis from a business perspective, says Miguel Gomez Sjunnesson, Menzies country manager Sweden and Denmark.
-With a professional staff and management team led by Jakob Bo Andersen, new handling equipment and all systems in place we have experienced a smooth start with Norwegian, and with Delta coming in from June 3, 2015 as our second airline customer with a very different profile from Norwegian.
-We are confident that we have achieved a sustainable foundation for future development at Copenhagen Airport that needed more competition in the handling business. The whole market has opened up, and the reaction in the market has been positive as airlines see a need of competition in terms of better price and quality. Now we are well prepared to take in more new airline customers and will do so progressively.
-Our focus is on passenger handling and that will remain our target at this stage. There are no plans for adding also cargo handling in the foreseeable future, says Mr Gomez Sjunnesson.
