Jun 04, 2015 (newstodate): The sustained decline in demand for air traffic to and from the Russian market reflect in the pull-back by several western airlines.
As one recent example is Lufthansa that is now also pulling out from three of its routes between Germany and Russia.
Effective from August 30, 2015, Lufthansa is thus leaving the route between Frankfurt and Moscow Vnukovo served with seven weekly rotations, and launched on March 25, 2012.
The carrier is however continuing operations on the route to Moscow Domodedovo Airport, served since summer 2008 when the airline shifted its flights away from Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport.
From September 5, 2015, Lufthansa is also suspending services from Frankfurt to Samara and Nizhny Novgorod, both currently served with four weekly rotations.
Lufthansa first launched services to Nizhniy Novgorod and Samara, as two weekly rotations on the routing Frankfurt Nizhniy Novgorod Samara from March 31, 1996.
