Jun 17, 2015 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic now confirms that it will become the launch operator of the new Bombardier CS300 aircraft.
According to the latest information, airBaltic will take delivery of its first aircraft in September 2016 - almost a year later than originally planned due to a range of delays in the program.
The CS300 will provide new opportunities to enhance cost-efficiency of operations also allowing for the opening of new routes to destinations with smaller catchment areas.
Before the latest revision to the delivery plan, airBaltic expected to have 10 CS300 aircraft in the fleet by the end of 2016, but a new delivery scheme remains to be announced.
airBaltic has so far placed firm orders for 13 aircraft of the type, enabling the carrier to phase out its current fleet of eight Boeing 737-300 and five Boeing 737-500 aircraft.
