Jun 08, 2015 (newstodate): Iran's civil aviation industry is in dire need of a massive renovation of its aircraft fleet, eying the eventual lifting of the current embargo as a turning point.
After the privately-owned Mahan Airlines recently acquired another eight Airbus A340-300 aircraft via a third country not participating in the embargo, Kish Airlines is now also airing plans for new aircraft.
Owned by the Kish Free Zone Organisation, Kish Airlines' CEO has said to media that the carrier plans to acquire a total of up to 10 new Boeing aircraft directly from the manufacturer once the sanctions are lifted.
In a first move, the carrier will place orders for three Boeing aircraft before spring 2016, going up to 10 if possible.
It is anticipated that the carrier is aiming at buying Boeing 737NG aircraft to replace its current fleet of three Fokker 100 and nine MD-80 Family aircraft.
