Jun 18, 2015 (newstodate): Among newcomers to Iceland's Keflavik Airport from this summer will be Wizz Air starting flights with Airbus A320 aircraft from Gdansk in Poland to Keflavik with two weekly flights from June 19, 2015.
Even before the first flight, the carrier has however decided to increase frequency on the route in response to strong booking figures.
Thus, the carrier will add a third flight during the period August 1 to September 11, 2015, operating Airbus A320 aircraft on all flights.
It will, however, not be Wizz Air's first visit to Iceland.
In 2006, Bechtel, the main contractor for building the Alcoa aluminum smelter at Reydarfjordur, Iceland, contracted Wizz Air to provide staff flights from and to Poland.
During the following five years, the Hungarian lcc operated a weekend flight on the route Akureyri-Katowice, using A320 aircraft.
