Jun 25, 2015 (newstodate): As in the previous months, one Russian Top-5 cargo carrier alone secures growth in volumes in May 2015: AirBridgeCargo, part of the Volga-Dnepr Group.
While the other four Top-5 carriers saw their volumes down in May, ABC grew by 19.6 percent, y-o-y, to 240,115 tonnes, while #2 Aeroflot was down 4.3 percent, #3 Transaero dipped 25.2 percent, #4 Volga-Dnepr fell 2.5 percent, and #5 Sibir S7 was down 22.4 percent.
In all, the five leading carriers transported 339,272 tonnes of cargo in May 2015, up 8.5 percent.
The country's total of 35 cargo carriers lifted 412,927 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 8.4 percent, y-o-y.
Rising the most was Abakan Air that saw volumes up by 1,542 percent to 8,310 tonnes in May - primarily due to its IL-76 freighter operations for UN relief organizations during the earthquake disasters in Nepal.
