Jun 18, 2015 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo has signed an agreement with Germany's Lodige Industries for the delivery of a new Cargo Handling System, including a cargo professional software suite, to ensure pro-active production planning in Finnair's new cargo terminal, scheduled to open at Helsinki Airport in spring 2017.
The heart of the logistic system is the storage and transport system for airfreight containers and pallets with two 15ft Elevating Transfer Vehicles as well as an 11 aisle high bay storage system with approximately 2,000 storage positions and 11 stacker cranes.
The system includes Truck and Airside interfaces, as well as three separate temperature zones for cargo and special goods such as pharmaceutical products and perishable food.
Finnair will break ground for the new terminal at an event on June 30, 2015, and the new terminal is scheduled to open at Helsinki Airport in spring 2017.
