Jun 29, 2015 (newstodate): The Estonian carrier Avies has been declared bankrupt by the Harju County Court.
The court thus followed the petition by the carrier's main creditors, its two former business partners Swedewings AB and Bromma Air Maintenance AB.
In March 2015, the Swedish Transport Administration, Trafikverket, abrogated existing contracts with the Estonian carrier Avies Sweden and annulled the opening of further routes planned from this year.
The existing contract would run till the end of October 2015, and plans for routes to be served by Avies Sweden till October 2019 were also cancelled.
Behind the decision were a number of irregularities, cancellation of flights and other issues that raised strong criticism of the carrier in the Swedish market.
Instead, Trafikverket contracted the Swedish carrier Jonair and the Danish carrier Flexflight to take over services on the affected domestic routes.
With its base at Tallinn Airport, Avies AS was established and started flights in 1991, operating scheduled passenger transport, charter and air taxi services.
