Jun 12, 2015 (newstodate): The Danish forwarding and logistics company Blue Water Shipping is bent on continued expansion after significant growth in both turnover and profit in 2014.
In connection with other major objectives for the next one or two years, the focus will be on increasing market shares in Norway, Sweden and Finland, where Blue Water in recent years has intensified its efforts through an increase in investments and acquisitions.
-By themselves, these three markets are not exactly booming these years but our decision to grow our presence here is not least a response to demands by our existing customers that in many cases expect us to provide an efficient and comprehensive over-all coverage of the entire Nordic region, says Kim Hedegaard Sorensen, Blue Water Shipping Managing Director.
-We are also confident that increasing our presence in these market will generate synergies and boost our sea, air and road offerings in the entire region.
-In Denmark alone, Blue Water now employs about 700 staff at 10 locations, while we currently employ only 100 staff in Sweden, Norway and Finland, put together. This in itself indicates a need for strengthening our Nordic efforts.
-Having just won two significant and comprehensive tenders in Norway by the Norwegian Defense and the Kongsberg Group, respectively, we are already deep into expanding our efforts in Norway. In Finland we acquired V&K in 2012 and we are thus already represented at three locations and well underway.
-This obviously leaves Sweden as the market that will require the most immediate attention and allocation of resources to meet our plans for a well-distributed presence in all of the four Nordic markets, says Mr Hedegaard Sorensen.
Over the years, Blue Water has expanded to include own offices in countries around the North Atlantic, in Western and Eastern Europe, in Central Asia and the Middle East, in the Far East and North and South America.
