Jun 10, 2015 (newstodate): The construction of a new ruby and sapphire mine in Aappaluttoq, Greenland, brings in new business for the Danish logistics provider Blue Water Shipping.
The Canadian corporation True North Gems is constructing the mine, with production slated to start by the end of 2015.
A large part of the extraction will take place near the mine, while production facilities will be built in Nuuk for registration, sorting and cleansing of the precious stones.
Most of the production equipment, including crew modules and other elements, will be shipped via Nuuk to the mine, with volumes expected to be around 30 or 40 containers.
In addition, various special assignments with large modules and air freight will follow.
-Blue Water has been chosen for this project because of our great experience in Greenland and our large international network, which enable us to coordinate worldwide shipments. Also, it is important that we show great local commitment and use local manpower, says Kenneth Skovbjerg Pedersen, sales responsible for Blue Water's activities in the North Atlantic.
