Jun 01, 2015 (newstodate): As from today, one former air cargo terminal at Copenhagen Airport is standing idle, awaiting a future operator.
The Terminal 3, owned by a US investment company, was last operated by WFS that officially closed all operations by May 31, 2015 as a consequence of its take-over from October 1, 2014, of Swissport's cargo business at Copenhagen Airport.
Already from the start of May 2015, WFS started the process of moving customers from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1.
Swissport started cargo handling at Copenhagen Airport by July 1, 2012, taking over the former Novia Cargo Terminal on the airport's eastern premises, left vacant after Spirit Air Cargo Handling's move to facilities immediately adjoining the passenger aircraft apron from March 13, 2012.
SGH earlier considered leasing the building to house its equipment maintenance company, but this activity was instead outsourced.
Speculations are now if another cargo handling company might consider a stake in the volatile cargo handling business at Copenhagen Airport, competing with Spirit Air Cargo Handling and WFS - with Menzies a dark horse.
