Jun 26, 2015 (newstodate): Ethiopian Airlines is seeing strong results on its route between Addis Abeba and Stockholm, Sweden, currently operated through Vienna.
Ethiopian Airways has been operating the route Addis Abeba-Stockholm since October 28, 2003, after moving its Scandinavian services from Copenhagen Airport, Denmark.
The route is currently operated via Vienna, earlier Rome, but according to the airline's Regional Director, Solomon Mekonnen speaking to Austrian media, plans are on the table for changing the routing by connecting Vienna with another point in Europe and operating a dedicated direct non-stop flight between Ethiopia and Sweden that is home to a significant ethnic Ethiopian minority.
Already today, about two-thirds of the passengers from Ethiopia have Stockholm as their destination.
Ethiopian Airlines operates Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft on the route, replacing earlier Boeing 757/767 and 737-800 aircraft.
