May 1, 2015 (newstodate): Freight volumes through Uzbekistan's Navoi International Airport are rising also in 2015.
The growth is driven by Uzbekistan Airways in in a joint-venture with Korean Air Cargo that has made Navoi an international logistics center serving cargo traffic by Korean Air Cargo on routes from Incheon, Milan, Tel Aviv and Basel, as well as flights by Uzbekistan Airways to Delhi, Dubai, Frankfurt and Tianjin, as well cargo charter flights to Hamburg.
Starting from March 29, 2015, Uzbekistan Airways has also introduced new regular cargo flights from Navoi airport to Amsterdam, Shanghai and Mumbai.
In this year's Q1, Uzbekistan Airways alone has performed 98 freighter flights lifting 2,600 tonnes of cargo, and expectations are that the total cargo volumes at Navoi Airport will reach 37,500 tonnes as the network by the two carriers will expand through the year.
Uzbekistan Airways is now operating two converted Boeing 767-300ER freighters replacing the earlier lease from Korean Air Cargo of two Airbus A300-600 freighters from the end of 2014.
