May 26, 2015 (newstodate): The Swedish airport operator Swedavia has now published its Q1 2015-figures on the air cargo development at the country's three main airports.
As might be expected, volumes dropped steeply during the period at Gothenburg Airport where a total of 12,969 tonnes of cargo was handled, a decline by 33.1 percent, y-o-y, reflecting the stop of Emirates freighter services since July 1, 2014, when Emirates SkyCargo moved all Scandinavian freighter operations to Denmark's Copenhagen Airport.
At the other end of scale, Malmo Airport, in southernmost Sweden, experienced a strong growth in cargo during Q1 2015, with a total of 6,193 tonnes of cargo handled, up 11.3 percent, y-o-y, due to the freighter traffic by the Volga-Dnepr subsidiary Atran's weekly Boeing 737-400F freighter flight since January 9, 2014, as well as ABC Airlines' now two weekly calls at Malmo Sturup Airport as an en-route stop on the route between Amsterdam and Moscow with Boeing 747-8F freighter from April 2014.
At Sweden's Stockholm Arlanda Airport the situation was moderately positive, with a total of 34,109 tonnes handled, a slight increase by 1.2 percent, y-o-y.
