May 29, 2015 (newstodate): Egypt may become a new market for the Russian regional jet, the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft.
A delegation from the manufacturer has been in Cairo to make a presentation of the aircraft to Egyptian government representatives and people from the airline industry.
The Russian minister of trade has aired prospects of Egyptair to take a batch of 12 Superjet 100 aircraft, with options for a further 12 units for use on the carrier's Middle East route network.
A total of 306 firm orders has so far been landed by Sukhoi, in addition to 120 options, and 51 aircraft are now in commercial service.
This month, the Superjet 100 aircraft passed the 100,000 flight hours mark and is now operating flights on a route network comprising now more than 130 cities around the world for carriers including Aeroflot - that took over its 20th aircraft on May 25, Gazpromavia, Yakutia, Center-South, Red Wings, Interjet and special units of the Russian Government structures.
