May 28, 2015 (newstodate): If you have run out of extraordinary ideas for your summer holiday, Latakia in Syria might be a fresh option!
As the first carrier to offer a leisure flight from Europe to civil war-torn Syria since 2012, the Ukrainian virtual airline Autolux Airways has launched flights from Kiev to Latakia, on Syria's Mediterranean coast, using a Boeing 737 aircraft on a lease contract with the Ukrainian carrier Bravo Air.
In defiance of the EU sanctions on Syria, Autolux Airlines is now offering one weekly rotation on the route from Kiev to Latakia Basel al-Assad International Airport, and the carrier will also assist Syrian nationals to obtain visa for entry into Ukraine as well as onward travel options to destinations in Russia and the USA.
