May 12, 2015 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic can now offer its passengers direct connections from Riga to the USA.
With a fleet comprising Bombardier Dash-8 Q400 and Boeing 737 aircraft, the Transatlantic traffic is, however, secured through an extended code-share agreement with Uzbekistan Airways.
Uzbekistan Airways has been using Riga Airport as a transit hub on its flights between Tashkent and New York since October 31, 2004, operating Boeing 767-300ER aircraft on two weekly rotations.
Since October 23, 2004, airBaltic and Uzbekistan Airways have cooperated under a code-share agreement covering the flights between Tashkent and Riga, and this agreement has thus now been expanded to comprise also the flights by the Uzbek carrier between Riga and New York.
At the same time, airBaltic will provide connecting flight opportunities for Uzbekistan Airways' passengers to destinations on airBaltic's European network.
