May 22, 2015 (newstodate): Two days after celebrating its 11th Anniversary, Wizz Air has announced the opening of its 22nd base in Hungary.
The new base will be established on December 16, 2015, at Debrecen where Wizz Air will allocate one Airbus A320 to increase to its regional Hungarian services.
Already served by Wizz Air flights, Debrecen will be Wizz Air's second Hungarian airport with base operations, and the new aircraft will increase the number of routes served from Debrecen to six.
Among the three new destinations to be served from Debrecen will be Malmo in Sweden, Brussels in Belgium, and Paris Beauvais, France, all initially operating with two weekly flights.
Debrecen Airport, opened for international traffic in 2001, is located in eastern Hungary, with Romania, Ukraine, Slovakia and Serbia within 50 to 200 km reach.
Wizz Air now offers a total of 47 Hungarian routes to 22 countries from two Hungarian airports.
