May 18, 2015 (newstodate): Hopes are rising in Holland to see the launch from a regional airport of a new air service to Denmark .
Plans are to set up flights on a route between Groningen Eelde Airport and Copenhagen Airport, to be operated by the Danish carrier DAT.
Talks have long been conducted between the parties, but the eventual start relies on the airport's ability to generate enough firm financial support in the region for start of services.
A test flights by DAT was performed in late January 2015, but depending on the outcome of the search for financial commitment, scheduled flights on the route will be launched from autumn 2015 or by early 2016.
Currently, the airport is seeing only seasonal charter flights as well as one route by Wizz Air from Gdansk, Poland.
