May 28, 2015 (newstodate): Increasing congestion is driving Thailand to consider limiting the access to the country's main airports.
A decision will be made at a meeting in September as an effort to avoid a downgrading of the county's aviation safety by ICAO that will conduct a scheduled survey in 2016.
The volumes of aircraft operations at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport has now reached 800 landings and departures per day despite a capacity ceiling at 600, and the volume of flight operations at Phuket International Airport, the country's 2nd largest, has reached 23 per hour against a capacity ceiling at 20.
