May 11, 2015 (newstodate): Cargo volumes through Hungary's Budapest Airport remained unchanged in January-April 2015, compared to the previous year.
A total of 29,200 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport in 2015, against 29,210 in 2014.
-Due to the loss of Malev's network including belly cargo and trucking after its bankruptcy in 2012, the volume was reduced to the level of some 90,000 tons per year, says Kerry Parks, Budapest Airport Aviation Development PR account manager.
-2013-2014 were years of stabilization, and the market started growing again by the second half of 2014. So far this trend has been maintained, says Mr Parks.
Among the news at the airport in 2015 is the traffic by Turkish Airlines Cargo going up to three scheduled cargo flights per week between Budapest and Istanbul.
Turkish Airlines Cargo launched its freighter service between Istanbul and Budapest Ferihegy Airport on July 18, 2011, initially offering one weekly rotation.
Emirates Cargo also introduced a weekly Airbus A330-200F freighter call at Budapest from November 2014.
